Drifting Soul

For drifting souls

Send one secret up as a balloon, and wait.

You write one line, at most 96 characters, and send it up as a balloon in one of six colors. A stranger who chooses to prick it is the only person who ever receives the sentence; both calls cost gas only, and the contract holds no BOT.

The sky

The balloon shows a color. The sentence waits inside until someone you will never meet chooses to take it down.

Sample balloons, while the contract waits for gas. A prick here plays the burst and does not reveal a sentence.

Toss the bottle

Write the line you have been carrying. Pull the bottle down and let go. Where it lands is the color; the button only sends that choice.

Someone will find it

Some sentences have nowhere to go. You cannot say them at the kitchen table, you cannot post them, and you cannot keep carrying them without noticing the weight. A balloon is a small place to put one line and stop holding it for a while.

The sky does not promise a reader. A balloon can drift for a long time, and no one owes it a prick. What it offers is the chance that a person who does not know you will choose your color, take the balloon down, and read the line you could not say out loud.

That is the whole exchange: one line leaves your hands, one stranger receives it, and the chain keeps only a color and a hash. Nothing is sold, nothing is ranked, and no one is counting who gets understood.

People looking up and letting colored balloons go

Write, toss, prick

Write. Put one sentence into the bottle, up to 96 characters. It stays on your side; the contract gets a hash of it, never the words.

Toss. Toss the bottle at a colored peg. Where it lands sets the balloon’s color, one of six, and the balloon hangs in the sky for gas only.

People looking up and letting colored balloons go

Prick. Find a balloon that is not yours and take it down. One pop, and the sentence falls only to your wallet. The author can still read what they wrote.

What the chain keeps

The balloon shows a color, not the sentence.

The sentence is not stored in the contract. A hash is.

The site returns the sentence to the author, and to the wallet that popped the balloon.

One pop takes the balloon down. A second pop reverts.

The author cannot pop their own balloon.

Release and pop cost gas only. The contract holds no BOT, so there is nothing to withdraw.

The contract is live on BOT Chain mainnet.

Who lets one go

The one who cannot sleep and has a sentence running in a loop at 3 a.m. The one who wants to confess something once, to a stranger, and never again. The one who would rather open someone else’s balloon than send their own.

Help

Can anyone read my sentence?

Only two wallets can: the one that wrote it and the one that popped the balloon. The contract stores a hash, not the sentence, and the balloon itself shows a color.

What does the color mean?

It is where your bottle landed when you tossed it at the pegs. There are six colors, and the landing peg is the one you send. There is no row of color buttons to pick from.

Can I pop my own balloon?

No. The author cannot pop their own balloon, so the sentence has to reach someone else to be read by someone else. You can still read what you wrote.

What happens after one pop?

The balloon leaves the sky. A second pop on the same balloon reverts, so exactly one wallet receives the sentence.

What does it cost?

Gas only, for both release and pop. No BOT is deposited into the contract, so there is nothing to withdraw. This runs on BOT Chain, chain id 677, with BOT as the native token for gas.

Is it live now?

Yes. The contract is on BOT Chain mainnet. Release a balloon, or prick one that is not yours.

Changelog

Now

The contract is live on BOT Chain. Write a line, toss the bottle, and a stranger who pricks it is the one who reads it.

Next

Keep the sky reading live balloons so a visitor can find one to prick.

Later

A quiet view of the balloons currently up, showing color and id only, so a visitor can find one to prick.

Beyond

Keep the surface small: one sentence, six colors, one pop, and nothing held by the contract.

Send it up

Write the line you have been carrying, toss the bottle, and let the color be wherever it lands. Someone may prick it tonight, or no one may, and either way the sentence is out of your hands.
